South 4 Water

South America Cycling World Record

4 days for $30k

HERE WAS THE PLAN…

6,400 miles in 37 days

"Clean water is quickly becoming an enormous problem world wide. In most countries, like the US, we take this precious resource for granted. We can cook, clean & consume water from a simple twist of the faucet. This is not the case for many of our brothers & sisters across the globe. In fact, 16% of Hondurans don’t have access to clean water! This is why I am going to break the Guinness World Record for the “Fastest Time to Cycle Across South America from North to South”.

With my 2 man crew, we will set off from Cartagena, Colombia riding at world record pace to Ushuaia, Argentina (the end of the world!). My goal is to break the current record by 4 days to raise $30k for clean water charity Water1st. They help local communities build sustainable water infrastructure for life!

HERE IS WHAT HAPPENED…

On the second morning of my record breaking ride, we encountered violent protests. In the process, I was separated from my team & taken in by a family. I hid out and worked in agriculture as my crew was held up in the town where it all started. We planned to continue; but after an armed convoy reunited my team & I, we faced more violence, and were required to flee. During that time, I journaled my experiences and made an entire family in Colombia. This experience showed me the beauty of the human spirit, true kindness & to lead with Love!
